IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023: After Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, won the toss and chose to field, Rohit Sharma’s opening partner, Shubman Gill, made a rapid start, reaching his fifty in just 37 balls. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma adopted a more cautious approach to accumulating runs. However, following Gill’s completion of his half-century in the 13th over, Rohit began to accelerate, hitting three consecutive boundaries off Pakistan’s leg-spinner, Shadab Khan, in one over. Along with that, Rohit Sharma also completed his half century, his 50th in ODIs.
Rohit Sharma pulls the trigger
In the 13th over, on the fourth delivery, Rohit Sharma showcased his prowess by pulling a short-pitched delivery over the cow corner for a powerful six. The following ball, another half-tracker, was met with a similar fate as Rohit dispatched it deep into the stands for another six. To complete the over, the final ball was a full delivery, and Rohit elegantly played a cut shot, guiding the ball behind square for a four.
Not content with just two sixes and a four, Shadab Khan offered a juicy full-toss to Rohit on the first delivery of his next over. Rohit responded by stepping deep into his crease and launching the ball over the deep mid-wicket fence for a massive six, simultaneously reaching his fifty off 42 balls. However, the skipper was later dismissed for 56 off 49 balls.
