ODI World Cup 2023: Despite the apparent progress made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in settling on a new date for the India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 fixture at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, uncertainty remains regarding the participation of the Babar Azam-led team in the tournament. As per recent reports, the committee headed by Bilawal Bhutto and appointed by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will have a meeting on Thursday to make the final decision on this matter.
Pakistan may not take ‘Tough Stand’
Pakistan could request permission for a security check in India before the Men in Green’s participation in the tournament is approved, despite the report’s assumption that they won’t take a “tough stand” against an important ICC tournament. However, no other information was disclosed. The Bilawal Bhutto-led committee is led by Tariq Fatmi, a veteran diplomat, and includes Maryam Aurangzeb, Asad Mahmood, Amin ul Haq, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and Sports Minister Ahsan Mazari.
It is important to note that the 2023 ODI World Cup match between India and Pakistan was initially scheduled to take place on October 15 in Ahmedabad. However, security organisations advised the BCCI to move the game to a different day to avoid conflicting with the beginning of Navaratri, which is enthusiastically observed in the Gujarati state.
New date for IND vs PAK clash
The India vs. Pakistan game will now take place on October 14 according to a revised schedule that the ICC and BCCI are almost ready to announce. With their match against Sri Lanka now scheduled for October 10 rather than the originally planned October 12, Pakistan’s schedule may possibly undergo another modification. The revised schedule, which also includes changes to a few other teams’ schedules, might be formally released by ICC at any point in time.
