IND VS SA ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Everything was going smoothly as both of our openers were smashing the Proteas’ bowling. Rohit Sharma was once again in his brutal form and was smashing everything for a six.
But suddenly South Africa was back in the game with two quick wickets. The skipper went back to the Pavillion while trying to hit a boundary. But the wicket of Shubman Gill was a beauty that left utter silence in the ground.
And it was none other than Keshav Maharaj who has become a cult hero for the Proteas in the past few days. He was once again on strike and dismissed Gill with a miracle delivery that left him utterly shocked.
An Unplayable Delivery
The Indian team was rolling and had scored 93 runs in just 10 overs. Shubman Gill was hitting the ball very well and the Proteas needed a wicket. That is when Maharaj came and delivered exactly what the skipper wanted him to.
A stock delivery from around the wicket was full and drifted into land just outside the leg. It turned away to beat the leading edge of the bat as Gill tried to nudge it and then delicately trimmed the top off-stump.
Gill was in utter disbelief and did not know what happened. He even took a review and asked for confirmation from the umpire of him being bowled. The review did nothing except showcase what a brilliant delivery that was and Gill walked back to the pavilion.
Good Comeback By Proteas
After scoring 100 runs in just 12 overs, the Proteas have made a huge comeback. Maharaj has been the real hero as he only conceded 30 runs in his 10 overs and took 1 wicket as well. India is on 179/2 after the 30 overs.
Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are building the innings and are just waiting for the spinner overs to end. Kohli scored a half-century on his birthday while Iyer is also batting sensibly. The way this IND VS SA ICC ODI World Cup 2023, we are in for an intense chase.
