South Africa beat India by 5 wickets in their third match of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the WACA stadium in Perth. Chasing a low total of 134, Proteas lost their first three wickets at just 24 runs. Later David Miller and Aiden Markram held the nerves and stitched to a 76-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
The last five overs were tensed but Rohit’s miscalculation of giving Ravichandran Ashwin the 18th over turned out wrong. Arshdeep Singh was the man in form with the ball for Team India as the youngester picked up two wickets in his first over.
Easier after opting to bat first India posted 165 runs on the board for the loss of 6 wickets. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for India with his 40-run knock.
At one stage, India were reduced to 49/5, but later Suryakumar and Dinesh Karthik held a 52-run partnership that brought some momentum to the Rohit Sharma’s team.
For South Africa, Lungi Ndigi picked up.4 wickets as he dismissed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya in his career’s one of the best spells. While Wayne Parnell picked three wickets.
With this win, South Africa go top of the Group 2 points table with five points while India are at the second spot with four points.
