IND vs SL Asia Cup 2023: Monday was a great day for the Indian team. Not only did the Blues play a full-strength team after almost a year, but lots of problems were solved against Pakistan.
Asia Cup 2023 has been frustrating for India because of the rain and constant hindrances. There was only one problem with the team against Pakistan and that was Shreyas Iyer suffering a back spasm.
Iyer was supposed to start the match against Pakistan but suffered a back spasm 5 minutes before the match. KL Rahul was named his replacement and he performed sensationally by scoring a century. Iyer’s place in the X1 was already doubtful after Rahul’s performance but the latest update by BCCI has raised doubts about his future matches as well.
Iyer To Miss IND vs SL Asia Cup 2023 Match
Just before the match started, BCCI posted an update stating that Shreyas Iyer was feeling better but was still suffering from a back spasm. He is yet to fully recover from that spasm.
Iyer was advised by the BCCI medical team to rest and not put force on the back. That is why he did not not travelled with the team to the stadium today for India’s Super 4 match against Sri Lanka.
KL Rahul For the 4th Position?
After a sensational performance against Pakistan, KL Rahul has booked his place at number 4 for India. He will most possibly be the first-choice keeper for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
This has put Shreyas Iyer in a troublesome position as Ishan Kishan is also in great form. If he does not have enough time to prove himself, he might be on the bench for the World Cup.
