Dunith Wellalage made the headlines during the IND vs SL Asia Cup 2023 match as he completely annihilated the Indian top order. And by annihilation, we mean that he did not let the top 3 breathe while he was bowling.
Men In Blues were in the driving seat when Wellalage decided to take matters into his own hands. He sent the top 3 of India back to the pavilion and just when India was stabilizing down, he struck again.

Indian ship was sailing smoothly with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill playing comfortably on the pitch. India was 80/0 in 11 overs and then Dunith Wellalage came into the action and changed the game.
He took Gill’s wicket on his first delivery and sent Virat Kohli back to the pavilion in the 14th over. Kohli was only able to score 3 runs. Rohit Sharma tried to do something but Wellalage sent him back as well at the start of the 16th over.
It was a disaster for team India as Men In Blues went from 80/0 to 91/3 in just 5 overs. A sensational spell that was going to get even better later on.
Breaks Another Partnership!
KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan tried to settle the innings. They were successful in doing that and Rahul was even close to his half-century. But Wellalage struck again and sent KL back to the pavilion at a personal score of 39. A motivational performance that has put Sri Lanka back on the map.
