Undoubtedly he is the man of the series. He saved Sri Lanka in the first ODI, got them to a defendable total in the second ODI, and now is giving the Indian team hell with the ball in the third ODI.
Indian team is on the verge of losing their first bilateral series against Sri Lanka in 27 years and Wellalage is in the center of it. He is the main force that has allowed Sri Lanka to compete in this series.

Wellalage was not able to score with the bat in the final ODI, but he made sure to leave his mark. Once again, he made sure that his team got that historic victory against the T20i World Champions.
India was in a decent position with 51/1 in 7 overs. That is when Wellalage came and changed the match. That is when Wellalage came and turned the game completely on its head.
He dismissed Rohit Sharma who was looking dangerous and got the wicket of Virat Kohli right after powerplay. This is the third time Kohli has been dismissed against spin in this series.
After that, Wellalage got the wicket of Shreyas Iyer, who is the biggest threat against spin. He finished his first spell with the wicket of Axar Patel. In just 5 overs, he got 4 wickets while only giving away 27 runs.
