IND vs SL: ‘Experiment Or Joke,’ Fans Turn Against Gautam Gambhir After India’s Historic Loss; Read

IND Vs SL

Indian fans have turned against Gautam Gambhir and his strange batting rotaion after India loss the second IND Vs SL ODI match.

It looks like Indian fans have not taken the second IND vs SL ODI loss lightly. More than the loss, fans are bewildered and confused by the batting order shuffle that Gautam Gambhir made during both matches.

The Indian team had under-par chases in both ODIs and after the start that Rohit Sharma gave them in both the ODIs, it should have been an easy chase in both the matches.

But alas, India failed to chase both matches. While the first match was a tie, India lost the second match by a considerable margin. It was India’s first loss against Sri Lanka in a bilateral series after 27 years.

The fans were left confused and shocked by some of the decisions that were made by Gambhir regarding the batting order. They are questioning the methods of Gambhir already.

IND Vs SL: Experiment Or Joke?

In the first ODI Gambhir sent Washington Sundar ahead of KL Rahul and in the second ODI, both Axar Patel and Shivam Dube were promoted ahead of him. Even Shreyas Iyer was demoted in the second ODI.

Both Iyer and Rahul have cemented their place in India’s middle order. They are arguably the two best batters at their position. And when they were sent at Number 6 and 7 in the second ODI, fans were left bewildered.

Should Stop Experimenting?

There are still early days for Gambhir as a coach and if he does not take these losses on heart, he should continue experimenting. There is still time for the next World Cup and the Champions Trophy is next year.

While only 4 ODIs are remaining till the Champions Trophy, experiments like these will give Gambhir a vast idea of the team. So, if he does not take these bilateral losses seriously, he can keep experimenting and find the perfect balance.
