IND VS SL ICC ODI World Cup 2023: It was the perfect opportunity for Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. Gill had the opportunity to announce to everyone that his form has returned in absolute style.
King Kohli had the chance to equalize the ODI century record set by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in his home, Mumbai. But Dilshan Madhushanka had other plans and did not let any Indian batter achieve any major milestone today.
He first dismissed Rohit Sharma on the second delivery in his 250th ODI match of his career. After that, he sent both Gill and Kohli to the pavilion when both of them were close to their centuries.
Heartbreak For Fans
Shubam Gill played wonderfully and was on 92 runs in just 91 deliveries. But a well-thought trap was laid down by Madhushanka and Kusal Perera that led to the dismissal of the Indian opener.
A slower bouncer cramped Gill while he was looking to play it over the third man. The ball did not have enough pace to carry it over and Kusal Mendis took a very simple catch. The dismissal of Kohli was even more impressive.
It was another off-cutter by the left-arm pacer that completely choked the Indian batter. He plopped the ball towards short cover who took a very simple catch as Kohli departed after making 88 runs in 94 deliveries.

The left-arm pacer has been on fire in this match. He sent the top 3 of the Indian team back to the pavilion and after that took the wicket of Surya Kumar Yadav as well. We all know how dangerous Surya would have been if he was not taken care of.
He has taken 4 wickets in the match so far and if he keeps on going like that, he can leave the match with a fifer to his name.
