IND VS SL ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Mohammad Shami was on fire once again in the World Cup. He has only played 3 times in this campaign and has crossed the wickets mark every time.

Once again against Sri Lanka, he became the point of difference as India defeated Sri Lanka by 302 runs. This is one of the biggest victories that any team has witnessed in ODI history as well as World Cup history.

Just like in the Asia Cup 2023 finals, Sri Lanka was not able to get go and were all out on 55 runs while chasing a massive target of 359 runs. It was an all-out destruction by the Indian bowlers while Sri Lankan looked clueless.

Unstoppable Shami!

Shami started his riot from the first over when he sent Asalanka back to the pavilion. Asalanka was not able to score at all and Shami departed him at an individual score of 1 in 24 deliveries as Ravindra Jadeja took a brilliant catch.

The crowd shouted even louder on the next delivery as Dushan Hemantha was also walking back to the crowd as Shami was on a hattrick chance. The Sri Lankan batsmen somehow survived the remaining deliveries but the Shami Storm was not over yet.

He came back and took three more wickets to complete his second five-wicket haul in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Keep in mind that this is his third match and he has already taken 14 wickets, only 1 less than Jasprit Bumrah.

IND VS SL ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Record Breaker Shami

With this five-wicket haul, Mohammad Shami has also broken a marvelous record. Shami overtook Zaheer Khan and became the bowler with the most wickets for India in the ICC ODI World Cups. He is leading the chart with 45 wickets now. If he keeps going like this, he can easily achieve the 50 wickets mark by the end of the competition.
