IND Vs SL has been a decent series for Yashasvi Jaiswal so far. He might have not gotten a very big score, but he has been impressive in both matches so far. He has been aggressive and his approach has worked.
Jaiswal played a blistering 40-run knock in the first match and looked solid in the second match as well. More than the scores, Jaiswal will remember this series for the freak milestone that he has achieved.
The left-handed batsman has had a sensational year so far. He made his test debut and has already scored two double-centuries. Became a World Champion in T20 format and has not achieved another milestone.
Another Milestone!
Ahead of this series, Jaiswal needed only 47 runs to become the first batter to complete 1000 runs in International cricket in 2024. And after remaining just 7 runs short in the first T20i, he did not let the opportunity slip for the second time.
The left-hander once again started hitting from the first delivery and played a sensational cameo in a rain-hit match. Jaiswal did his job as he departed after scoring 30 in just 15 deliveries.
Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis is at the second spot in runs scored in 2024 with 878 runs so far this year. The difference between the first and second spots is mind-blowing and just shows the kind of year Jaiswal is having.
IND Vs SL: Series Clinched
India won a one-sided second T20i match to clinch the first series under Gautam Gambhir’s regime. Sri Lanka was in control in the early phase of the match but the Indian bowlers made a sensational comeback in the later stages.
The rain shortened the match and the revised target for the Blues was 78 runs in 8 overs. Which was chased easily courtesy of Surya Kumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Hardik Pandya.
