Gautam Gambhir has been under lot of scrutiny after the IND Vs SL ODI series loss and the fans are not happy with him.

IND Vs SL: No matter how you look at it, losing a bilateral series to Sri Lanka after 27 long years is quite bad. The last time Sri Lanka won a bilateral series against India was back in 1996.

What is even more worrisome is the fact that the Indian team was not able to compete on the same level. The Blues were outclassed by the Lankans on all fronts. Except in the first match, which was a tie.

India failed to all-out Sri Lanka even once in the ODI series even after taking early wickets. Every other batsman except Rohit Sharma failed to perform and couldn’t even score 100 runs in 3 matches.

It was a shameful performance but what was even more shocking and confusing were the experiments made by head coach Gautam Gambhir. It was his first ODI series being in charge of Indian cricket and he failed.

‘Only PR’

Experimentation is good as it can allow Gambhir to know more about his team ahead of the major tournaments. Gambhir has also complained previously that India fails because the players never play together and in different situations.

So, this might be his way of making every batter experience different situations, which is a good thing. However, the fans are not happy with the results and are criticizing Gambhir from all sides.

It has been one of the rare instances where an Indian coach is getting blamed more than the skipper. We don’t know how to feel about that. But if Gambhir can keep experimenting in these bilateral series without taking the losses to heart, it is a win-win situation for the Indian team.

IND Vs SL: No Complacency

Amidst the series, there have been many claims by fans and experts that the Indian team has been complacent since the T20i World Cup win. In the post-match interview, the Indian skipper was asked about it and he was not happy.

“No, It’s a joke, when you are playing for India, there is no complacency. And as long as I am here It won’t be the case no matter what,” Rohit Sharma stated.
