IND vs SL: In the third and final ODI of the series, India’s young opener Shubman Gill once again showcased his impressive batting skills with a solid century against Sri Lanka. India took control after a cautious start in Trivandrum since they already had the series in the bag. Shubman Gill has finally hit his second ODI century after being dismissed several times while nearing the century. With this century, Gill has firmly established himself as the opener, while Ishan Kishan, a double century, behind.
The choice of the second opener became one of the more pressing challenges for the Indian squad. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill were both serious candidates to compete for the position. Gill, though, was chosen to bat in the series against Sri Lanka rather than the wicket-keeper batsman and he has easily proven his worth. However, he did not have much of extravagant celebration and just raised his bat and helmet. The star player hit the hundred in 89 balls. during his innings, he has 12 fours and two sixes.
India got off to a fantastic start thanks to Shubman Gill at the opposite end until Ohit Sharma was bowled for 45 runs off of 43 balls. Since then, Virat Kohli and Gill have continued to bat together, and they have formed yet another potent connection. After winning the toss, Rohit decided to open the batting. After starring in T20Is during the previous year, Suryakumar Yadav has now earned the opportunity to play an ODI match. Washington Sundar and him have joined the squad.
He had some early hitches in the first two T20s, but he played well in the third match and gained Rahul Dravid’s trust, allowing him to play in all three ODI matches. Ishan Kishan, who scored India’s quickest Double century in ODIs against Bangladesh, is now in last place.
