IND Vs SL has been a decent series of Riyan Parag so far. He shined with the ball in the T20i series and finally got his ODI debut cap in the third and final ODI of the series. And what a debut it was.
India is facing a must-win match as a loss here would result in the Blues losing their first bilateral series against Sri Lanka in 27 years. This is something that Gautam Gambhir wouldn’t want in his debut series.
Sri Lanka was looking to upset India once again and was in a very strong position with Avishka Fernando closing in on a century. That is when skipper Rohit Sharma introduced Riyan Parag and he changed the game with his bowling.
What A Debut!
Sri Lanka was running towards a big score when they were on 170/1 in 35 overs. The team was on the way to go past that 280-run mark easily. That is when Parag changed the game with his spell.
He dismissed Avishka Fernando on 96, didn’t let Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka set, and dismissed him easily. And finally, he clean-bowled the hero of Sri Lanka in this series, Dunith Wellalage cheaply.
Parag was a little bit expensive in his spell but he was the only one who took more than 1 wicket. He finished his spell of 9 overs with 3 wickets while giving 54 runs with an economy of 6.00.
IND Vs SL: Series Decider!
This is a series decided and India’s respect is on the line. India can lose this series if they fail to secure victory in this match. And they have a decent enough target on their hands once again.
Sri Lanka finished their innings on 248/7 and once again questions on the Indian bowling lineup without Jasprit Bumrah are rising. But it is a flat pitch compared to previous matches so India should chase it down.
