Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill were on fire during the IND Vs SRI first T20i match as it marked the start of the Gautam Gambhir era.

IND Vs SRI: The Gautam Gambhir era as the new Indian coach has started with a bang as the Men In Blues dominated the powerplay against Sri Lanka in the first T20i match. It was one of the best displays by the Men In Blues in this format.

It was a weird day for the ICT fans as even their strongest T20i squad was without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. This squad set the feeling of a new era inside every ICT fan and management.

That is why it was a relief that both Yashaswi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill started the inning so smoothly and brutally. Both these openers took apart the Sri Lankan bowlers and scored with fury behind them.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Is A Star

It was a Jaiswal show from the first delivery as he dispatched the first delivery by Madhushanka for a boundary. He continued the momentum and kept the aggression going.

Shubman Gill joined him after a few overs as the new vice-captain also took charge and tore down the Sri Lankan bowling lineup. It was a surreal show by both of these young players.

This duo added 74 runs in the powerplay which is the second highest Powerplay score by Men In Blues against Sri Lanka. Gill was dismissed on the last delivery of the Powerplay but the damage was already done.

IND Vs SRI: Comeback In Vain!

There was a mini-comeback by the Lankans when they dismissed both the Indian openers in consecutive deliveries. But the happiness was short-lived as Surya Kumar Yadav took the baton and scored a wonderful half-century.
