Ind Vs WI 2023: The first match of India Vs West Indies was a bore-fest surely. But the domination that India showcased was next level entirely. India won the match by an inning and 141 runs.
This is one of the biggest wins in test cricket history. And the two main pillars for this win were none other than Yashaswi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin. While Jaiswal got the Man of the Match award, it is our duty to give Ashwin his props.
The spin scientist of India bowled tremendously in both innings. Taking 5 wickets in the first inning and 7 wickets in the second. And without any doubt, he broke several records in the process.
Record Breaker Ashwin
Ashwin took his 8th 10-wicket haul in test cricket and became the bowler with the most 10-wicket hauls for India. He equalized Kumble’s record. It was also his 34th 5-wicket haul which put him just 1 behind Anil Kumble at second sport in terms of Indian and fifth worldwide.
It was the sixth time when Ashwin took 5+ wickets in both innings. Only Murlidharan and Rangana Herath have done it more time. His 7 for 71 became the best bowling figure by India against West Indies.
Indian Team Broke Several Records In Ind Vs WI 2023
West Indies was only able to score 280 runs combined in both innings. This became their lowest-ever total against India where they have been bowled out. The previous lowest total was 322 runs in 2006 and 2019.
It was also West Indies’ third-lowest total in a test match at home. Only England and New Zealand have been bowled out on lower total aggregate scores in Dominica compared to the Carribean’s 280.
