Ind Vs WI 2023: The Indian team bowling Paras Mhambrey came out and criticized the pitch used in the second match of the West Indies tour. He also criticized the approach taken by Caribbean batsmen while batting.
Mhambrey calls out the pitch for being too slow and easy for batting while saying that it is not fair to the bowlers. He further questioned the balance of the pitch as the Queen’s Park Oval was extremely batting-friendly.
India is leading the two-test match series by 0-1. India would like to win this match as well as it will give them a major point boost in the WTC cycle. Meanwhile, West Indies might look to draw the match as it might be fewer negative points.
Completely Flat Wicket
The former Indian pacer stated that “The pitch is very slow, very easy for batting. Towards the end, it started turning a bit. West Indies were defensive with the bat too.”
He was sort of frustrated that West Indians did not even try and offer a shot. Because without a shot the chances of getting a wicket are near zero. He further added that his bowlers did their job wonderfully and exactly what was expected of them.
“I think the pitch should be sporting. There has to be a balance – something for batters and bowlers.” The former Mumbai pacer added.
Ind Vs WI 2023: A Dull Affair
The second test match between India and West Indies has been a dull affair so far. At the end of the third day, West Indies made 229 runs with the loss of 5 wickets. Every batsman except Kirk McKenzie had a strike rate nearing 30 only.
Considering everything, this match is going for a draw. If India wants to win it, they have to bowl out West Indies. Which is really tough in these conditions.
