What actually happened during the IND vs WI 1st T20I?
During the final over of the game, as Kuldeep Yadav got dismissed, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal prepared to walk out to bat. However, an awkward situation unfolded when the Indian dugout called out to Chahal and conveyed that coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Hardik Pandya preferred debutant Mukesh Kumar to bat at number 10, resulting in an embarrassing moment for Chahal.
Observing the signals from the team, Chahal tried to return to the dugout, but the umpires prevented him from doing so. As per the laws of the game, once a batsman enters the field after a wicket falls, they cannot retreat to send another player in their place. This explained why the umpires stopped Chahal, leading to him having to bat at number 10.
