IND vs WI: Netizens expressed their frustration towards India’s national cricket team wicketkeeper-batter, Sanju Samson, due to his poor performances in the ongoing five-match T20I series against the West Indies national cricket team.
Sanju Samson’s poor form
There’s no doubt that Sanju Samson currently stands as one of India’s most gifted batters. He consistently approaches his batting with a proactive mindset, possessing the capacity to alter the game’s trajectory through his aggressive and dynamic style of cricket. Even though possessing exceptional talent and showcasing strong performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Samson’s opportunities within Team India lacked consistent continuity. However, the ongoing West Indies tour presented him with regular chances, unfortunately resulting in subpar performances.
There was a widespread anticipation that Sanju Samson would contribute with influential contributions if not substantial innings, yet he fell short on both counts during the ongoing T20I series. Across three innings, he had the opportunity to make an impact but couldn’t deliver substantial performances in any of them. During the initial two T20Is, his scores amounted to 12 and 7 respectively. Unfortunately, in the decisive fifth T20I match against West Indies at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, he was dismissed after contributing a 9-ball 13.
Although Sanju Samson crossed the milestone of 6000 T20 runs in the fifth T20I, his performance elicited criticism from X platform users. They expressed disappointment in his underutilization of his talent and inability to capitalize on the provided opportunities. In a total of 22 T20I matches, Sanju Samson has only managed to accumulate 333 runs for Team India, averaging at 18.50 and maintaining a strike rate of 131.62.
