BCCI: Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur was strict and unbothered in a press conference held on Friday. After the success of the IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 match, many fans thought that we might get a bilateral series between the two nations.
After all, the Super 4 match broke all the previous viewership records, so the intrigue was obvious. But our Union Sports Minister declined all the possibilities of a bilateral series between neighboring countries.
He also stated that the Board Of Control for Cricket in India has already decided on this same fact. The board and the government are not ready to resume cricket relations with Pakistan.
No Resumption In Cricketing Relations
Minister Anurag Thakur stated that India will not resume cricket relations untill Pakistan stops the cross-border terrorism. He was stern and adamant about the decision of not resuming the ties.
“The BCCI decided long ago that it will not play any bilateral matches with Pakistan until they stop terrorism. We will not resume our cricketing ties with Pakistan unless they stop carrying out attacks across the border or infiltration incidents.”
The remarks came after the incident at Anantnag where four soldiers lost their lives in a fierce gunfight by terrorists. The fight is on its third day now and Mr. Anurag stated that there will be a stern reply to the terrorists for this unfortunate event.
BCCI Stern On The Decision
In August 2023, Secretary Jay Shah stated that India would not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. That is why all matches of India happened in Sri Lanka rather than Pakistan.
The Pakistani board threatened to pull out of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 because of this but decided to participate in the end.
