According to reports, the opening match of the tournament will feature the finalists of the previous edition, England and New Zealand, taking place in Ahmedabad on October 5. Furthermore, the final match is scheduled to be held at the same venue on November 19. After their defeat to New Zealand in the semifinals of the 2019 competition, India will commence their campaign against the most successful team in World Cups, Australia. Multiple reports suggest that India’s tournament opener is likely to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In the anticipated schedule for the high-profile event, Pakistan is projected to compete in matches held in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Alongside these venues, several other cities in India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Indore, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Rajkot, and Raipur, are set to host matches during the World Cup. Notably, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which hosted the 2011 World Cup final where India triumphed over Sri Lanka, is a probable venue for one of the semifinal matches this year.

Significantly, this marks the first instance of India solely hosting the entire World Cup. The 1996 edition of the tournament was co-hosted by India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while the 2011 edition involved co-hosting responsibilities shared among India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Similar to the previous World Cup, the matches in this tournament will follow a round-robin format, with each team facing every other team at least once. Once all teams have completed nine matches each, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals.
