Indian captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday described himself as a ‘new India representative’ who is always ready to face new challenges with full expectations.
Kohli made this reference in the context of Greg Chappell’s comment, in which the former Australian captain said that he was ‘the most Australian (mentally minded player) among non-Australian cricketers’.
On the eve of the first Test match against Australia, Kohli was asked about his aggressive cricketing and combativeness, which was mentioned by Chappell, formerly Indian coach. Chappell has a similar mindset among the cricketers of his country. Kohli said, ‘I have always been saying that this is my own style.
The way my personality and character is, I am representing the new India, I see it this way. ‘ He said, ‘In my mind it is not a matter of Australian mentality or such comparison. It is associated with advancing the Indian cricket team and from the first day my personality has been like this.
