India vs Bangladesh ODI: Will Ishan Kishan give KL Rahul a tough competition? Here’s what former Pakistan captian has to say

India vs Bangladesh ODI

India vs Bangladesh ODI: Salman Butt, a former captain of Pakistan, feels that Ishan Kishan is not in competition with KL Rahul, the current Indian ODI wicketkeeper. He believes that Rahul can still make the ODI selection just based on his batting. Butt believes that Ishan’s performance has put more pressure on players like Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan because the kid is capable of opening the batting and keeping wickets.

Shikhar dhawan might be pushed back

Salman Butt had to say about Ishan Kishan’s knock and its consequences that,”I don’t think Ishan Kishan will be competing with KL Rahul since the latter can also play as a pure batter. However, he is definitely pushing Pant and other wicketkeeping options for a spot. Even openers like Shikhar Dhawan might be pushed back in the pecking order after this double hundred from Ishan.”

Salman Butt praised Virat Kohli

Salman Butt also praised Virat Kohli for breaking the ODI century curse and achieving his 72nd international century after more than three years. Ishan’s double hundred was made possible in large part by Kohli, who was able to calm the youngster down by talking to him. On this, Butt stated, “Virat Kohli’s presence at the other end was important as he provided a calming effect to Ishan as the latter reached closer to his double hundred. These performances don’t happen every day and Ishan was simply outstanding. Even Kohli got a century to his name and although this came a bit late in the series, it will serve as a confidence booster to them going forward.”
