The third and final T20I between India and New Zealand has been called off after rain hit India’s chase. Chasing the target of 161, India had a horrific start as they lost four wickets in quick succession. Once again the new opening pair of Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan failed to deliver as they added only 13 runs for the first wicket. But later it looked like rain saved Team India.
Time Southee was the pick of the bowlers for BlackCaps as he picked two wickets and gave just 27 runs in four overs.
Earlier, India bundled New Zealand at 160 with Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj picking four wickets each. Harshal Patel who got to play his first game of the season also picked one wicket.
“Would have liked to win the game by playing the full overs, but it is what it is. At some point, I felt attack is the best defence on this wicket. We know the kind of bowling attacks they have, it was very important to get those 10-15 runs extra even though we lost a couple of wickets. A game like this could have given us an opportunity to test some of the players, but having said that, weather is something we cannot control. I’m going back home, taking my time off and be with my son,” said Har
For New Zealand, Devon Conway and scored the fifties.
India Take Series
No matter how hard New Zealand tried to defend the target but the game ended in no one’s favour.
India will take the T20I series 1-0 with Suryakumar’s blessing in the second game while the first and third saw no result.
