The national women’s 4*400 really team has pulled out of next month’s World Relays in Poland.
“The team is unfit. The fastest runner in the squad, Anjali Devi, is yet to recover from an injury she had sustained in March,” the source told IANS, explaining the reason for skipping the World Relays.
One of the athletes said: “Three main runners are unfit. And there is no substitute.”
This is also a mojor setback to India’s Olympics preparatioN as this tournament was meant for the preparation ahead of Tokyo Olympics in June.
AFI however will send 4*400 men team and 4*100 women relay teams squads to Poland.
The top 16 relay teams at the end of the qualification period in June will be able to take part in June Olympics.
