India women’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur has tested positive for COVID-19 and has quarantined herself. Harmanpreet had also asked all those who came in contact qith her in the recent past to get tested for the virus.
“Unfortunately I have tested positive for Covid-19. I am feeling OK and I have quarantined myself by following all the advised guidelines advised by the authorities and my doctors,” she said in a statement she put up on her social media handles.
“A humble request to all those people who have come in contact with me in last 7 days to please get themselves tested to be on the safer side. By God’s grace and your well wishes, I will be back on the field soon. I urge you all to please wear mask and stay safe,” Harmanpreet further said.
32-year-old had played for India in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa in Lucknow on March 17. Later she missed the T20I series with her hip injury and the young opener from Mumbai Smriti Mandhana captained the team instead.
Harmanpreet is among the latest several cricketers who have tested positive for COVID-19. Recently cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Subramanian Badrinath have also tested positive for the virus who have taken part in the recently concluded Road Safety World Series.
