Prominent Cricketers Attend Ram Mandir Inauguration

The inauguration of the Ram Lalla temple in Ayodhya took place on January 22, 2024, marking a significant event in the religious and cultural history of India. Several Indian cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mithali Raj, graced the grand occasion of the Ram Mandir’s Pran Pratistha ceremony.

Sunil Gavaskar’s Unfulfilled Dream Passed to Ajinkya Rahane

While Gavaskar’s spiritual journey made headlines, another newsworthy development involving him emerged in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra state cabinet recently approved the leasing of a 2,000-square-metre plot of land in Bandra, Mumbai, to cricketer Ajinkya Rahane. Interestingly, this prime piece of land was initially allocated to Sunil Gavaskar in 1988 for the establishment of an indoor cricket academy under the “Sunil Gavaskar Cricket Foundation Trust.”

Despite the grand vision behind the project, the land remained undeveloped for over three decades, eventually reverting back to government possession. In a move to utilize the space more effectively, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) passed a resolution to grant the land to Ajinkya Rahane. The Council of Ministers subsequently endorsed this recommendation.
