Indian Hockey players get a jab of COVID vaccine

The Olympic-bound Indian men and women’s hockey players got the first jab of COVID-19 vaccines today.

The players are currently training at the Sport Authority Of India (SAI) center at Bengaluru.

“Players from other disciplines like athletics to are getting Covid-19 vaccines in Bengaluru. Even coaches associated with the national camp got the first jab last week,” an SAI official.

There has concern about the vaccines for all the Tokyo Olympics players. The mega tournament in Tokyo is set to start on July 23.

Offcials of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) nor the sports ministry have made any announcement about the timing of COVID-19 vaccination.

“All the players and support staff are asymptomatic. They have been isolated and kept under observation,” SAI said in a statement.
