INDW vs AUSW T20 World Cup 2023: According to sources, the Indian women’s cricket team may face the Women’s T20 World Cup semifinal match against Australia without skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar due to illness. India has made it to the knockout stage of the tournament with six points from four matches. They won against Pakistan, West Indies, and Ireland but lost to England. If Harmanpreet is unable to play, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is expected to lead the team. Radha Yadav’s injury also caused some concerns, and she was not able to play in the match against Ireland.
Radha Yadav’s Injury Concerns Add to India’s Worries Before Semifinals
Harmanpreet expressed concerns about some areas where the Indian team needs to improve before the semi-final match. In the post-match presentation after the England game, she said that they did not bowl according to plan and gave away too many runs in the middle overs. Although they were doing well with the bat, they were not getting the run rate they were looking for, which caused them to lose wickets. Harmanpreet also mentioned the number of dot balls faced by the Indian batters. In their loss to England, they faced 51 dot balls, but in their match against Ireland, they showed progress with 41 dot balls in their innings of 155 for 6, led by Smriti Mandhana’s T20I career-best score of 87.
Aims to Improve Dot Ball Woes in Semifinals
Harmanpreet emphasized that World Cup games always put pressure on both teams. She said that having 150 on the board gives the upper hand, and they are not putting too much pressure on themselves. They are trying to understand the conditions and play accordingly. However, dot balls are something that worries them, and they hope to improve in that area in the next game.
