Harmanpreet Kaur breaks Rohit Sharma’s record
Kaur is now the first and only player in the world, across men’s and women’s cricket, to play in 150 T20I games for India. She played her 149th match against England on Sunday, breaking Rohit Sharma’s record of 148 appearances in the shortest format. Her 150th game was against Ireland.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s achievements are a testament to her talent and dedication towards the game of cricket. The 32-year-old has been a crucial player for India in T20Is, having played a pivotal role in the team’s success in recent years. Kaur’s impressive leadership skills have also helped India reach new heights in the women’s game. Under her captaincy, India reached the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020, and she has also led the team to the finals in the Asia Cup T20 in 2018.
In addition to her impressive record, Kaur is also on the verge of achieving a significant batting milestone in women’s cricket. She needs just seven runs to become the first Indian and the fourth player in the world to score 3000 runs in T20Is. With a current score of 2993, she is likely to achieve this feat against Ireland. The leading run-scorer in women’s T20Is is Suzie Bates with 3764 runs, followed by Australia’s Meg Lanning with 3346 runs, and West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor with 3166 runs.
