INDW vs PAKW: On Sunday, India started their Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 campaign on a high note, defeating Pakistan by seven wickets. Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored an unbeaten knock of 53 runs off 38 balls, led the way for India. She hit eight fours, and with Richa Ghosh, who scored an unbeaten 31 runs off 20 deliveries, including five fours, the two stitched a match-winning partnership. Nashra Sandhu took two wickets for Pakistan and Sadia Iqbal claimed one.
Jemimah Rodrigues: The star of the Match
Jemimah’s calm and calculated approach to the game was the highlight of the match. She played a crucial role in India’s successful chase. At the end, she accelerated with Richa Ghosh, scoring back-to-back fours to seal the win. The last four was hit in the fifth delivery of the 19th over. Which was a short delivery from Fatima Sana. In the next ball, she drove the full delivery around leg inside out to the leg side for another four and secure a victory for Harmanpreet Kaur with her team.
Pakistan Sets a Target of 149 Runs
After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat. Their captain Bismah Maroof was their top scorer, with an unbeaten 68 runs off 55 balls, including seven fours. With Ayesha Naseem’s unbeaten 43 runs off 25 balls, including two fours and two sixes, they managed to post a target of 149 runs in 20 overs. India’s Radha Yadav took two wickets, and Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar each took one wicket.
