The International Olympic Committee (IOC) to organize Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 and they could also consider various scenarios for the safe organization of event.
Japan Olympic federation postponed the event to 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic. The stake holders of Japan Olympic federation have already spoken to international governing structure about the safe commencement of tournament.
IOC President Thomas Bach briefed the press
Thomas Bach, the IOC President said the committee responded in a very positive manner and he hope for the better response from the participating nations as well. “We remain fully committed to staging Tokyo 2020 next year in July and August. The entire IOC is following the principle we established before the delay, the first priority is about the safety of all the participants,” said the IOC President.
“We continue our work with World Health Organization (WHO) and based on this advice we are preparing multiple scenarios,” . We don’t know the health situation one year from now,” he added.
The biggest challenge for governing structure is the generation of funds due to coronavirus guidelines, where spectators would be absent. The organization of this event without spectators is great loss for the committee and the sponsors.
Bach also discussed about the IOC agreement with nation Senegal to postponed the Youth Olympics 2022 to another four years.”This would also give chance to the respective bodies to evolve from the crisis with time,” Thomas Bach said.
