Chennai Super Kings clinched their third win of this year’s IPL defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 20 runs. Opener Shane Watson top-scored with 42 runs. Later, Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja stitched a crucial partnership to take CSK to 167 runs. For Hyderabad, Sandeep Sharma took 2 wickets for by giving just 19 runs.
While chasing, Hyderabad lost their top three batsmen in quick succession. Kane Williamson scored a gritty 57 run knock but it went in vain. Ravindra Jadeja picked was adjudged as the player of the match for his all-round contribution.
“I think with our team and the depth that we have, we’re always going to be one short either way. It would have been nice to have an extra batter today, but you’ve got to weigh the pros and cons,” Warner said after the match.
“I thought 160 was the right total to go after, but anything above that was always going to be difficult. Having 6-7 bowlers in the team helps. It’s difficult to play against bowlers who can swing the ball. There’s always a challenge in the powerplay, but you have to take on the bowlers,” he said.
