IPL 2023: On March 31, the reigning champion Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings will play in the first game of the new Indian Premier League (IPL) season (CSK). Players from all over the world will represent their respective teams throughout the two-month cricket tournament. The IPL’s schedule avoids conflicts with any international competitions, however, certain foreign players might not be able to appear in the first few games. David Miller will be missing the first match for GT as well.
Gujarat Titans ‘really upset’ with Miller
David Miller will be playing for his country of South Africa in the ODI series against the Netherlands, Gujarat Titans will surely be missing their star player. Miller has opted to stay with the squad and skip a handful of IPL games since this series will determine whether South Africa participates in the ODI World Cup 2023 or not.
The Titans stakeholders are “really upset” over Miller’s decision, which has not gone down well with his team. The Proteas hitter admitted that when he told management about his unavailability, they did not seem happy.
Speaking on incident, David Miller said, “They were really upset, It’s always a big thing playing in Ahmedabad, especially in an opening game against Chennai. I am a bit disappointed to be missing that, but to put on the green and gold has always been a huge privilege and honour.”
Continuing further, he stated, “And we have got some work to do in those two games against the Netherlands, so I think having a strong team – the best squad we can pick – is definitely the way forward. I will be missing one game so, whether I’m somewhat disappointed or not, the process has taken place.”
