IPL 2023: The 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) is just around the corner, with the first match slated for March 31. Reliance Jio has announced that the IPL cricket matches will be available for live-streaming on its JioCinema app, and the great news is that viewers will also have the option to watch the matches online in stunning 4K resolution (UltraHD). Furthermore, Reliance Jio will offer the content in high-definition for free, which is an exciting upgrade for cricket enthusiasts.
IPL viewing experience to take a giant leap
Previously, Indian users were required to either purchase or possess a subscription to Disney+ Hotstar in order to stream IPL matches. However, this option was not accessible to everyone. As a result, telecom giants such as Jio and Airtel provided prepaid plans that included a Disney+ Hotstar subscription, enabling people to watch IPL matches without incurring additional costs for the membership.
The inaugural match of the IPL will feature the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings. Viewers who have utilized the FIFA World Cup 2022 Multicam feature may already be familiar with JioCinema’s ability to switch between multiple camera angles, providing a more convenient and enjoyable viewing experience. It was earlier announced that the commentary will be available in 12 languages including Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Marathi.
This feature will also be available for IPL matches. However, during the first day of FIFA World Cup streaming, many users experienced lagging and freezing issues as the app was unable to handle the high traffic volume. However, it is expected that users will not have to face such kind of issues now, thanks to more broader upgrade for the IPL.
