IPL 2023: The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has imposed a fine of 10 percent of his match fee on Jos Buttler, the English cricket star representing the Rajasthan Royals. This penalty comes as a result of his violation of the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Thursday night.
Jos Buttler sacrificed his wicket earlier
Jos Buttler willingly sacrificed his wicket for his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal, making the most of this opportunity, displayed an impressive performance by scoring an unbeaten 98 runs, including a remarkable half-century in just 13 balls. As a result, the Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious, defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets.
However, there was a regrettable incident during the match. Jos Buttler and Jaiswal had a misunderstanding that resulted in a mix-up, despite Buttler signalling his reluctance to take an early single by raising his hand. Jaiswal continued to run, causing Buttler to be dismissed. This turn of events left Buttler furious with the way he was dismissed during the Rajasthan Royals’ chase of 150 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The IPL statement read, “Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler has been fined 10 Percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 11. Mr. Buttler admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”
According to the statement, Jos Buttler acknowledged his involvement in a Level 1 Offence as stated in Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. The final and binding decision regarding Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct lies with the Match Referee.
