IPL 2023: On Wednesday, in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), the CSK team made an almost heroic effort to win. Although the CSK captain MS Dhoni remained unbeaten till the end, he was unable to hit the final ball to the boundary, which would have given them the victory. As a result, Rajasthan won the match by a margin of three runs. However, CSK coach Stephen Fleming revealed that after the match, he received concerning news that Dhoni has still not completely recovered from a knee injury.
MS Dhoni’s knee injury
MS Dhoni demonstrated his excellent form during the match by hitting some of his signature sixes, particularly against spinners. He managed to score 32 runs off only 17 balls, including one boundary and three sixes, while also forming a crucial partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 25 runs off 15 balls. In the final over, with Sandeep Sharma bowling and CSK needing 21 runs off the last six balls, Dhoni hit two more sixes. However, Sandeep recovered and prevented CSK from winning, securing a three-run victory for his team.
During the post-match conference, Stephen Fleming said that the captain of Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni, is currently recovering from a knee injury. Despite his injury, Dhoni managed to perform some extraordinary feats on the field.
He continued further by stating, “He is nursing a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movements. It’s hindering him somewhat. His fitness has always been very professional. He comes a month before the tournament starts. He’s a great player. We have never doubts over him. He’s just amazing.”

After the match, MS Dhoni appeared to be in pain and was having difficulty walking correctly, which is a cause for concern. If Dhoni misses upcoming matches due to his knee injury, it could be a significant setback for CSK, as they are already grappling with injuries to key players such as Ben Stokes, Deepak Chahar, and Sisanda Magala.
