IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals continue to face difficulties as their losing streak extends to five games. On their return to Delhi from Bengaluru, some DC players reportedly experienced further setbacks when their kits, including bats and other equipment, were reported missing during transit.
Stolen items from DC players’ kit
A sum of 16 bats, including three of skipper David Warner, five of Yash Dhull, three of Phil Salt, and two of Mitchell Marsh, were reportedly lost. Along with the bats, other essential equipments such as shoes, pads, thigh pads, and gloves were also unaccounted for.
Upon receiving their kit bags in their hotel rooms on April 16, the players discovered that their bats and gear were missing. The franchise has taken help from a logistics company to manage the transportation of kits between different venues.
According to team officials, the players were taken aback upon hearing the news and stated that it was the first time such an occurrence has happened. The matter has been reported to the logistics department, police, and airport authorities, and an investigation is currently underway.
DC’s losing streak at IPL 2023
In their previous match against RCB, Delhi Capitals lost by a margin of 23 runs as Virat Kohli scored a half-century and the pacers successfully restricted DC to a total of 151/9. Among the bowlers, Vijaykumar Vyshak claimed three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj took two, and Wayne Parnell, Harshal Patel, and Wanindu Hasaranga each took one wicket. Despite Manish Pandey’s half-century and attempts by Aman Hakim Khan and Anrich Nortje at power-hitting, DC could not chase down the target of 175.
DC is currently sitting at the bottom of the points table and is yet to secure a victory this season. The team is scheduled to play KKR on April 20 in their home conditions.
