IPL 2024: MS Dhoni has been an instrumental figure in cricket for a very long time. He has been playing at the top level of cricket for almost 2 decades now. It has been a pleasure to watch him play.
On Saturday, CSK got knocked out of IPL after losing to RCB and many fans and experts are thinking it might be the last time we will ever see Dhoni on the cricket pitch. This realization is hard to accept for everyone.
But former Indian player Ambati Rayudu thinks differently. In the post-match ceremony on Sunday, Rayudu stated that he thinks Dhoni can play one more season. He thinks that Dhoni deserves a better ending.
IPL 2024: He Should Come Back
Rayudu stated “I don’t think this is his last game. I just don’t see him wanting to end on this note. He looked a little frustrated, even when he got out. That’s very unlike MS Dhoni, he just wanted to qualify and finish on a high. But you never know with MS Dhoni, he might come back next year.”
He further stated that the Impact Player rule can help Dhoni massively and increase his playing chances. “With the impact player rule as well, it gives him the opportunity to be able to come in those last few overs and truly make that impact. BCCI better not remove the impact player rule because we still want to see MS Dhoni play. So, it’s up to BCCI now. Do we want to see MS Dhoni play or not.”
A Sensational Career
Even if Dhoni wants to retreat at this point, no one would blame him. He has had a wonderful career so far. A career that most players dream of having. He will retire as the most successful Indian skipper with 3 ICC trophies to his name.
