IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings have gone from having too many options in the bowling department to having a lack of bowlers. This problem was evident during their loss against the Punjab Kings.
Deepak Chahar was seen limping out of the ground after suffering another ankle injury. Mustafizur Rehman has to go back to his national side, and Tushar Deshpande has been sidelined due to illness.
There was some relief when Richard Gleeson performed wonderfully in the powerplay. But the happiness was short-lived as Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana had to return home to secure visas for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The Duo Will Be Back
There were some tensions among the fans and CSK management as they were not sure whether the Sri Lankan duo would be able to return. But as it turns out, there is nothing to worry about as they both will be returning.
Pathirana’s manager Amila Kalugalage, took to X, to announce that both these players will be joining CSK camp. Another wonderful news is that they will be available to play against Punjab in Dharmshala.
Pathirana even posted a story on Instagram with Theekshana indicating that the duo is going to Dharmshala. Pathirana’s manager was happy and stated that CSK fans should expect some fireworks from both.
Deepak Chahar Ruled Out Of IPL 2024
After just two deliveries against Punjab, Deepak had to leave the ground after suffering an injury. The injury is not looking good and according to the statement by CSK, his season might be over.
“Deepak’s injury is not looking good. I will not say he is ruled out of the season but doubtful. He has stayed back in Chennai. We’re waiting for a report from the medical team,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan remarked.
