The Lucknow skipper was struggling in the early stages of IPL 2024. He was even used as a substitute in a few matches. But in the past few matches, it looks like he has turned back the clock to 2018. The year when KL Rahul was ruling the cricketing world.
On a pitch that was favorable for bowlers, KL Rahul stood like a Buddha. Calm, composed, and with grace. He patched away the bad deliveries and showed his class good deliveries. It was a soothing inning for the eyes which kept LSG in the race.
All Eyes On The World Cup Spot
This inning was so important considering what was on the line. We all know that the wicketkeeper spot in the Indian team T20 World Cup squad is still open. Both KL Rahul and Sanju Samson are prime contenders for that position.
Both of them are under pressure to perform to get selected in the squad. And KL Rahul performed exceptionally well. Unlike other pitches, the Ekana ground was aiding bowlers, and Rahul was class apart. It was like seeing the vintage Rahul back in form.
The Indian wicketkeeper got out in the 18th over after scoring 76 runs in 48 deliveries. This might not look impressive on paper for this tournament. But Ekana is a different ground where no team has touched the 200-run mark even this season.
IPL 2024 LSG vs RR: Milestone Reached
With this inning, KL reached yet another milestone. Apart from touching the 300-run mark this season, he also became the fifth player to score 4000 runs as an opener in the IPL. He is the fastest opener to reach this elusive milestone.
