IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant has been the talisman of Delhi Capitals this season. He has not only led his team from behind the stumps but has also scored good runs with his bat as well.
He has been very crucial for Delhi in their current amazing run where they have won 5 out of their last 7 matches. This amazing run has kept their hopes of qualification alive which will be decided against RCB on Sunday.
Delhi is going to play RCB on Sunday in the double-header clash. The losing team will most probably be knocked out of the tournament. RCB is on a tear now as well and has kept their hopes alive after winning 4 out of their last 5 matches.
IPL 2024: Huge Shock To DC!
But when everything was going right for DC, a new setback happened. Skipper Rishabh Pant has been suspended for one match after breaching the IPL Code of Conduct for the third time this year.
This was the third time that Delhi has maintained a slow over rate in IPL 2024. As a result, the whole team was heavily fined and skipper Pant has been reprimanded with a one-match suspension.
Pant was fined 30 lakh additionally while rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs. 12 lakh or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.
Appeal Rejected!
An appeal was filed by DC, as per Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The appeal challenged the ruling of the match referee. It was referred to the BCCI Ombudsman who stated that the match referee’s decision would be binding and will be final.
