IPL 2025 is already shaping up to be an intense tournament and we are still a year away from the season to start. Now that the Paris Olympics 2024 is almost over and the Indian cricket team is on a break, franchise owners are starting to act.
The meeting between BCCI and franchise owners was a heated one where Shahrukh Khan got into a spat with Ness Wadia. The issue of retention will be solved very soon as BCCI will announce its decision by the end of the week.
On the other hand, teams are also making changes in their arsenal to improve their performances. You will see teams that finished at the bottom of the table making several moves in the upcoming weeks.
Ashish Nehra In Jeopardy
One of the teams that performed underwhelmed in IPL 2024 was Gujarat Titans. The team selection was kind of confusing after losing Hardik Pandya and coach Ashish Nehra was out of sorts mostly.
Gary Kirsten had already left the Gujarat team to take his new position as Pakistan’s head coach. This has resulted in the management deciding to overhaul the coaching staff completely.
According to the sources, Gujarat’s management is looking to overhaul the coaching positions. And it looks like Ashish Nehra will be the first victim of the overhaul. The reports also suggested that Vikram Solanki might be able to retain his spot in the coaching team.
IPL 2025: Shubman Gill Future
On the other hand, Gujarat is doubling down on Shubman Gill as the one to lead them into this new era of T20. Gill is also supposed to be leading team India in the future so it makes sense that his franchise also sticks with him.
He is going to be part of the test side in the upcoming Bangladesh series where Mohammad Shami might also make his return.
