IPL 2025

Five-times champion CSK are desperate for a new Indian keeper ahead of IPL 2025 as they are targeting Sanju Samson from RR.

IPL 2025: It has been evident for a while now that as MS Dhoni retirement days are getting closer, CSK are looking for the next Indian wicket-keeper to replace him. And they want to do it as soon as possible.

There is no guarantee whether Dhoni will play the next IPL or not. That is why Chennai’s management is looking for solutions early. A few weeks earlier, reports came out that CSK had approached Rishabh Pant.

The deal was almost completed but was broken at the end due to some differences between the clubs. Well, that deal is not entirely dead, but Chennai has found a new target in the form of Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson.

IPL 2025: New ‘Thala’?

It is not a revelation as CSK has been trying to poach Samson since 2021. Both RCB and CSK were looking to trade Sanju in 2021, confirmed by Aakash Chopra. Even Sanju has wanted to wear the yellow jersey and has hinted several times that his dream is to play with Dhoni.

According to rumours, Chennai is bound to get Sanju this time but there is one slight problem. Even though the Royals have agreed to let Sanju go, they want Shivam Dube in return.

CSK are not willing to give up Shivam Dube, and that’s the main point of discussion between the two franchises. CSK are trying to convince RR to trade him without any player in return.

‘Major Missing’

The rumours were ignited when Rajasthan Royals’ posted a video of Sanju with the caption ‘Major Missing’. There is nothing confirmed yet.

But the reports also suggest that if the discussion doesn’t go as planned, there’s a high chance RR will release Sanju, and CSK will undoubtedly grab him in the auctions.
