A huge trade-off between KKR and MI is taking place behind the scenes before the IPL 2025 auction takes place.

IPL 2025 is shaping up to be an event like never before. The tournament is still a year away, but franchises have already started dealing behind the scenes to make their team even stronger.

There will be lots of dealings that will be done before the auction. Last year, we saw the ultimate saga of Hardik Pandya and how it changed everything. Well, he might be involved in another transfer saga this year.

According to reports, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are in contact for a massive trade. KKR are keen on Indian T20i skipper Surya Kumar Yadav to join their team. In return, MI wants Shreyas Iyer.

Huge Trade-Off!

The surprising thing is that KKR wants Surya to be their captain. Considering Shreyas just led KKR to their third IPL title, this seems weird.

According to a YouTube video by journalist Rohit Juglan, Sky might be reunited with his parent club. With Iyer going the other way as KKR is ready to sacrifice their skipper for the arrival of Surya.

IPL 2025: No Rohit In MI?

All this debacle started when reports claimed that multiple franchises approached Rohit Sharma to become their captain. Considering the reception Pandya got last year, Mumbai might not be keen to make him captain once again.

They also do not want to make either Surya or Jasprit Bumrah the new skipper because it might create even more rift in the team. So, they are opting to cash out and approach the best skipper of the previous year.

If this trade-off happens, Mumbai will starve itself off the best T20i player in the world currently. But they will receive another dependable Indian batter and leader in the form of Iyer.
