IPL News: The Indian Premier League is going to get a lot more exciting from 2024 as Australian pacer Mitchell Starc is all set to return to the tournament. He last appeared in the tournament in 2015.
In 2015, he decided to focus more on the long form of cricket and was successful as well. He became the Aussies’ best pace bowler in Test and ODI cricket. His form in the 2015 ODI World Cup and World Test Championship is a prime example of that.
But Starc is now ready to return to India and every franchise will be running off to get his signature. The reason is simple Starc thinks that IPL 2024 can be the perfect preparation for the T20 World Cup that will happen soon after the tournament in 2024.
“Definitely Going Back”
During the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast, Starc said “Look it’s been eight years. I’m definitely going back in next year. Amongst other things, it’s a great lead-up to the T20 World Cup.”
“So a good opportunity to see if anyone’s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it’s somewhat of a quiet winter next year in comparison to this winter, so I think a perfect opportunity to put my name in.” The pacer further stated.
IPL News: Amazing Stats
Almost every franchise will be competing to get their hands on Mitchell Starc. Especially teams like Chennai Super Kings and Strac’s former team Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both of these clubs are weak in the bowling department.
The left-arm pacer has sensational stats in the IPL even though he has only played in two seasons. He was picked by RCB in 2014 and has taken 41 wickets in just 26 matches he has played in IPL.
