As Mike Hesson, the director of cricket operations for RCB, will step down from the position once his contract expires on August 31, Andy Flower is all set to take his position. The Zimbabwean had just stepped down from Lucknow Supergiants head coach position last month.
Former Australia coach Justin Langer, the new head coach for LSG, replaced him. On the other hand, the support staff of Mike Hesson will also leave RCB alongside him. Which includes the head coach of Bangalore, Sanjay Bangar.
A New Era In IPL
The Zimbabwean international was in talks with several IPL franchises, including Rajasthan Royals. But in the end, the Reds retained his services for a few years. The news was confirmed by Cricbuzz.
Andy Flower has been in charge of many successful teams in the past. He has managed St. Lucia Zouks in the CPL, Multan Sultans in the PSL, and the Gulf Giants in the ILT20. Another thing that most fans do not know is that the ex-Zimbabwe international also acted as an advisor to the Australian coaching staff for the Ashes 2023 series.
Reunion With Ab De Villers?
There are also many rumors that RCB and the highly loved retired South African international might be reunited. But this time, the role will be different, as many reports suggested.
AB De Villiers might return as part of Andy Flowrer’s coaching staff and might serve as the mentor for the Bangalore franchise. The news is not yet confirmed. This deal will also be sealed in the upcoming days.
