IPL News: After constant years of abysmal performances, Sunrisers Hyderabad is again looking to shuffle their coaching staff to make something happen. And on Monday, the IPL champion twice announced the signing of Daniel Vettori as their new coach.
The former New Zealand skipper replaced Brian Lara and took over the head coach position from him. This is Hyderabad’s one more try to revive their IPL hope and return to the glory days.
The Hyderabad franchise took to Blogging-site ‘X’ to announce that Daniel Vettori has joined the Orange Army as the head coach. The former Kiwi international is Australia’s assistant coach and has garnered immense success at that stint.
IPL News: Return Of The Legend
This will be the spinner’s second stint in IPL as the head coach. He was the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2104-2018; you can say that was the golden period of Bangalore.
We saw Virat Kohli making 973 runs with four centuries in that season. No one has even come close to breaking that record. It was also the period where Bangalore reached the finals of the tournament.
As Australia’s assistant coach, Vettori has recently led the team to the World Test Championship title. He was also present with the team for the Ashes 2023 series against England.
Goodbye Lara
Hyderabad made another post for Brian Lara, where they thanked the legend for their two years with him. The club also wished the former West Indies legend all the best for his future endeavors.
There were many reports in IPL News that Sunrisers management was unhappy with Brian Lara’s coaching style. Their mind was already made up before the start of the event, as they wanted to part ways with him ahead of the 2024 season.
