IPL: IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals are looking to sign English star batsman Jos Buttler on a permanent four-year deal. The Royals franchise is ready to offer Jos Buttler a multi-million dollar deal to enroll him with the franchise for a very long time.
Jos Buttler has been a part of Rajasthan Royals since 2018 and also plays for Royals franchise-associated team Paarl Royals in the SA20 cricket league. Buttler just completed his 10,000 runs in T20 Blast while playing for Lancashire in T20 Blast earlier this week.
He is a fiery T20 batsman who can annihilate any bowling attack. He has made 3223 runs for Rajasthan Royals in 92 innings. He was also the captain of the England squad that won the T20 World Cup in 2022.
Multi-Million Pound IPL Deal
According to the English newspaper ‘The Telegraph,’ the deal prepared by Rajasthan Royals will see Buttler earn millions of pounds every year. If Buttler accepts the deal, he will have to play with the Royals franchise across different tournaments.
It also means that ECB will have to ask permission from the franchise authorities to secure player services. This generally indicates that Rajasthan will be in control of Jos Buttler and where he will play rather than ECB.
‘The Telegraph’ also stated that it is unclear whether the English captain has accepted the contract. They are not even sure if the contract has been presented to Buttler. But if he does accept the offer, his earning will be millions of pounds per year.
ECB to take major steps
It is not the first instance of a thing like this happening. Many reports have emerged suggesting that Mumbai Indians have also offered Jofra Archer a five-year deal. Earlier, Jason Roy terminated his central contract to play in MLC 2023.
The ECB is trying to offer multi-year contracts and increased salaries in every format so that their players do not go and seek franchise contracts. It will also help ECB have more control of their players and their actions.
