Asia Cup 2023: The host nation of Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan, has been knocked out from the tournament by Sri Lanka in the clash that took place yesterday. However, its worth noting that Pakistan was No.1 ranked ODI team before the tournament started and suffered massive 228 run defeat from India and then lost the match against Sri Lanka as well, which was already touted as a virtual semi-final, as the winner was set to clash with India on September 17th. With that, strong reactions have also surfaced from Pakistani fans who have criticised the team on various fronts.
Pakistan knocked out from Asia Cup 2023
Sri Lanka, who is also hosting a few matches for the Asia Cup 2023, emerged victorious by chasing the 252-run target on the last ball. Clinching the match by 2 wickets, the Sri Lankan team knocked out Pakistan, who were the frontrunners for the trophy. Men in Green started their tournament on a bright note by thrashing Nepal by 238 runs. However, they completely lost the momentum against India. Virat Kohli & KL Rahul scored centuries and gave a target of 357 to the host nation. However, Pakistan was bowled out for just 128 runs and India won the contest by 228 runs.
This loss dipped their NRR and the clash against Sri Lanka was a must-win for both the sides. However, Pakistan couldn’t perform and ultimately lost the match in last ball thriller. Many fans from both the sides stated that the massive loss against India dipped their confidence. Several reaction videos post-match have went viral online after the clashes. A fan, in one of the video, stated, “Aise Haarna tha to Isse Accha Jaate Hi Nahi.” Meanwhile, another fan stated, “Ye Koi Tareeka Hota Hai Kya.”
